DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — Tanzania Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange equity market at the end of Thursday’s trading session. The equity market capitalization sagged by TZS 158 billion (about US$74 million) to end at TZS 22,008 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,166 billion recorded at previous trading session.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) fell by 18.21 points or 0.72 percent to end at 2,512.08 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index lost 7.82 points or 0.17 percent to close at 4,624.09 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index gained 16.79 points or 0.54 percent to end at 3,113.18 points. Industrial & Allied sector index fell by 0.42 percent or 26.16 points to close at 6,168.33 points and Commercial services sector index remained constant to close at 3,974.18.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 714.78 million from 1,899,157 shares traded in 57 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 2,107.69 million from 233,013 shares traded in 93 deals. CRDB had 1,885,955 shares traded in 32 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 510 shares in 2 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 70 shares in 8 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company traded 300 shares in 1 deal and DCB Commercial had 2,070 in 5 deals and Swissport Tanzania had 1,062 shares in 6 deals. SWALA Gas Limited recorded 9,010 shares in 2 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with three gainers and two laggards. Acacia Mining Limited gained 1.96 percent to settle at TZS 8,320, CRDB Tanzania added 1.37 percent to close at TZS 370 and Jubilee Holdings Limited ended at TZS 10,350.00 by adding 0.58 percent. On the losers’ table were East Africa Breweries Limited traded at TZS 5,690.00 by losing 3.89 percent and Kenya Commercial Bank slipped by 1.04 percent with closing price of TZS 950.00.
